Introduction

My major research interests are the mechanism and the predictability of large-scale anomalous atmospheric motions, such as tropospheric blocking, teleconnection patterns and stratospheric sudden warmings. My interests are pursued combining dynamical theory, diagnostics of reanalysis and forecast datasets and numerical experiments using atmospheric general circulation models and simple mechanistic models. Recent major research topics include:
1) Dynamics and predictability of anomalous weather and large-scale atmospheric motions.
2) Coupled variability between the stratosphere and the troposphere and between the tropics and the extratropics.
